The book raisin in the sun is based on the play that was made in the early 60s. This book is about a African American family growing up in poverty in the early 1960's. Theirs a house of five people in a two bedroom appartment. The man of the house Wilbert and his wife Ruth and their son Travis. Along with them is Wilberts sister Benetha and their mother Lena.
This family has a huge life insurance check coming in of 10,000 dollars from their fathers death. in this time perod that amoun of money is like one million dollars to them. Wilbert has dreams to start a liquor store with the money, but his mother Lena is a Christian woman and dosent think that starting a liquor store is a good thing to do in their situation. So Lena took it into her own hands and went out and brought the whole family a four bedroom house in Clyone park. This house had a backyard a front yard, 2 whole bathrooms and a huge kitchen. This house is in a neighborhood full of white people. Everyone is excited about moving into the new home except Walter, I think Walter isnt excited at all becuase he is used to getting his way about anthing he wants and since he isnt getting his liquor store he is going to have a fit.
In conclusion i think Wilbert needs to become more grateful for the things he already has even though its not alot because his wife and his family all have dreams but they have to put some of their dreams aside so everyone can be comfortable.
